WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF STAINLESS STEEL ADAPTERS?

Stainless steel is an excellent choice for hydraulic adapters and hose ends. Stainless steel is incredibly strong and corrosion resistant. It is an alloy of steel that contains more than 10.5% chromium. The chromium in stainless steel provides increased resistance to oxidation, and the resistance to oxidation increases as the ratio of chromium to steel increases. The corrosion resistance in stainless steels is due to the formation of a self-repairing layer of chromium oxide on the surface of the stainless steel. Because stainless steel is corrosion resistant, stainless steel fittings are an ideal choice for applications where the hydraulic fluid or the environment is corrosive. Stainless Steel is also much tougher than carbon steel at lower temperatures.

Flareless Tube Fittings

WHAT APPLICATIONS ARE FLARELESS TUBE FITTINGS USED FOR?

Flareless tube fittings are used to attach two sections of pipe together and commonly have ferrules in them. Flareless tube fittings do not require that the metal tube is flared before installation. The ferrule compresses onto the tubing which creates a seal that is able to withstand very high pressures. Tube fittings are typically used to water taps and toilet stop valves, as they are well suited to the confined spaces where these types of valves are commonly found.

Flareless tube fittings are typically composed of two parts: an inner compression ring (ferrule) and an outer compression nut. After installation, the nut is tightened and the ferrule is compressed between the nut and the receiving fitting. The ferrule seals the space between the tube, nut, and receiving fitting, forming a tight seal that is able to withstand high pressures.

Weld On Fittings

WHAT ARE THE MAIN PROPERTIES OF WELD ON FITTINGS?

Weld on fittings are a type of hydraulic fittings in which a pipe is inserted into a recessed area of a fitting, valve, or flange. Unlike butt weld fittings, weld on fittings are mainly used to small pipe diameters. Weld on fittings are typically joined to pipe or other fittings with fillet-type seal welds. This type of hydraulic fitting is an ideal choice when high leakage integrity and great structural strength and important to your hydraulic system. Weld on fittings are used in a variety of applications, including:

  • Lines conveying flammable, toxic, or expensive materials where no leakage can be permitted
  • Steam that is under 300 to 600 PSI
  • Applications where ASME pipe is used
  • Permanent pipe work systems

WHAT ARE THE MAIN PROPERTIES OF HYDRAULIC VALVES?

Hydraulic valves direct the flow of a liquid or gas through a hydraulic assembly. The direction of the hydraulic fluid is determined by the spool, which is the knob on the exterior of the valve. A hydraulic system cannot function without the use of valves. Every hydraulic assembly requires a valves, be it one valve or multiple valves. Their uses can be as simple as one relief valve to protect the pump and actuator, or their uses can be complex, with a variety of different types of valves used for one function. The size of the required valves is determined by the maximum flow of the hydraulic fluid through the valve and the maximum system pressure.

Different valves have different functions. Check valves let fluid flow in one direction and block flow in the opposite direction. Directional control valves are used to pass on the pressure medium (the flow) in a particular direction. Pressure control valves switch on or off at a certain pressure. Flow control valves regulate the flow of hydraulic fluid by adjusting the size of the bores (orifices). Needle valves use a tapered pin to gradually open a small space for precise control of flow.

Compression Tube Fittings

TUBE FITTING INSTALLATION

Installing a Compression Tube Fitting can be an easy and simple process. Simply follow the steps listed below.

  1. Firmly insert the tubing until it bottoms in the tube fitting body.
  2. Finger tighten the nut.
  3. Mark the nut at the 6 o'clock position with a pencil.
  4. Hold the body with a backup wrench or vice, then tighten the nut.
  5. Turn the nut 1.25 turns, stopping at the 9 o'clock position.

To reassemble a tube fitting, simply insert the tube assembly into the tube fitting body, tighten the nut to the original position (as indicated by the previous mark), then snug the nut slightly with a wrench.

HOW TO ELIMINATE TUBE FITTING ALIGNMENT ISSUES

An alignment problem is created when a male elbow is necessary to connect a female port and a section of tubing, but it is not possible to orient the male elbow in the desired position to connect the tube and female port. Quickly and simply fix alignment problems with your compression tube fittings by following the steps listed below:

  1. Assemble a male adapter into the female port.
  2. Insert the male elbow into the tube stub of the male adapter.
  3. Set the direction and assemble the male elbow according to protocol.
